This study examines the construction and operation policies of sports facilities by municipalities in Turkey and discusses the importance of these policies for local governments. The sports services provided by municipalities play an important role in improving public health, promoting sports culture, and supporting social development. However, municipalities face various challenges and shortcomings in the construction and operation of sports facilities. These challenges generally take the form of problems such as insufficient resources, the sustainability of facilities, and an inability to adequately respond to the needs of the public. The study emphasises the need to strike a balance between the successes of municipalities in large cities in the construction of sports facilities and the shortcomings in rural areas.
