The 21st century has witnessed the shift of focus towards innovative teaching methodologies and changes in learning styles in accordance with the surplus of and ease of access to information. Compared to earlier times when language education was realized through more conventional methods and materials, not only instructors but also students are now able to reach a myriad of resources created for foreign language education thanks to advancements in the current era. Despite ease of access to the ones that are already available, language learning resources responding to the specific and current needs of learners are critical components of a quality foreign language program. ITU School of Foreign Languages has always been in the pursuit of broadening its knowledge and practices in foreign language education in accordance with its mission. To this end, we proudly present An Introductory Guide to Academic Writing, designed to help students enhance their writing skills by adopting the latest trends in foreign language education. The book has been the outcome of the thorough and meticulous work of the proficient and experienced instructors of ITU SFL. I would like to express my sincere thanks to those who have been involved in the creation of the book and I hope that the book, as a product of a dedicated effort, will be of great benefit to our students and higher education community as a whole.
